Hosted by Austin Film Society, the Experimental Film Night is a bi–weekly showing of experimental films inside the Violet Crown Cinema.

These types of films typically don't bring in as many viewers as other genres in the film industry. To help remedy that, Experimental Film Night was given a unique identity -- sure to have Austinites share in what it means to watch experimental films.

Austin Film Society is known for empowering the local film community by talking, showing, and advertising all things film.

AFS curates and screens hundreds of films annually in their own cinema, as well as other participating locations in Austin. Special events happen regularly throughout the year, helping specific genres or film-makers get more publicity.

Because experimental films as a genre encompass such a wide variety of films, going with a specific aesthetic would prove to be tricky.

Utilizing nothing but hand drawn elements in the brand helps show the hands-on, "low budget" aspect that is seen commonly in experimental films.

The hand drawn animation was necessary in order to push the motion aesthetic that is associated with traditional film.

In the end, Experimental Film Night's identity entirely focuses on what makes this genre of film so unique.

Admit One

Specifically designed tickets are used for any movie being shown at the event. Because tickets come in different colors, patrons are encouraged to see more than one film in order to collect the set.

Various merchandise utilize the three illustrations used for the previous posters shown. By having three colors with distinct illustrations each, customers have options to choose their own statement about the meaning of experimental films.
