From the very beginning, the bar's concept revolved around player competition.
As such, the first name chosen was "PVP" for Player VS Player.
Aside from the name, image exploration was also heavily inspired by 80's design and arcade gaming.
Once the initial concept for PVP was created, the project took a step back to the drawing board to identify a more broad gaming term that appealed to both gamers and non-gamers.

Type choices were based primarily on lineweight and legibility on a dark background.
Sans Serifs were chosen to keep the bar feeling more casual and less overly sophisticated.
Arcades are always thought of as being dimmly lit with only the glow of dozens of arcade monitors shining through the darkness.
This arcade aesthetic was achieved in the color palette by pairing a dark blue background with pure white for type.
The three primary colors used for Versus serve a unique purpose.
As prominently featured in the logo, the three bars that form the "E" in Versus represent the three teams one can choose to join for ranking in leaderboards.
